How to Expedite a Nigerian Visa

Nigeria offers a variety of visas to foreigners, including U.S. citizens. To start the process, complete the form online and pay the fee. You will receive a receipt of payment to submit to an embassy or consulate in the states. At submission, provide supporting documents for approval. Your length of stay will depend on the type of visa you want.

Nigeria Visa Types

Nigeria offers six visa types. Each has specific requirements to become qualified. With approval, you can visit Nigeria within the visa approval time. Here are the different visas you may apply to visit Nigeria:

Nigeria Tourist Visa Requirements

A Nigeria Tourist Visa is available to foreigners or non-citizens with families who live in Nigeria. If you are a tourist, you must meet these requirements:

  • Valid passport with at least six months validity and two blank pages
  • Valid return ticket
  • Two passport size photos
  • Proof of enough funds
  • Confirmation of hotel reservation

If you are visiting family, you must meet these requirements:

  • Valid passport with at least six months validity and two blank pages
  • Valid return ticket
  • Two passport size photos
  • Proof of enough funds
  • Address of family or hotel reservation
  • Invitation letter from the family you will visit

A tourist visa is valid for 90 days.

Nigeria Business Visa

To obtain a Nigerian Business Visa, you must be going for the purpose of a meeting, conference, seminar, contract negotiation, marketing, sales, purchase of Nigerian goods, trade fair, job interview, training of Nigerians, emergency/relief work, crew members, staff of NGOs, researchers, or musical concert.

You must meet these requirements to apply:

  • Valid passport with at least six months validity and two blank pages
  • Valid return ticket
  • Two passport size photos
  • Proof of enough funds
  • Confirmation of hotel reservation/host address in Nigeria

A business visa is valid for 90 days.

Nigeria Transit Visa

A Nigerian Transit Visa applies to anyone who will pass through Nigeria to go to another country. To get a transit visa, you must meet these requirements:

  • Valid passport with at least six months validity and two blank pages
  • Two passport size photos
  • Confirmed ticket of connecting flight within 48 hours
  • Proof of enough funds

A transit visa is valid for 48 hours.

Temporary Work Permit (TWP) Visa

If you have a job waiting for you in Nigeria, you can apply for a TWP. When you do, you must meet these requirements:

  • Valid passport with at least six months validity and two blank pages
  • Two passport size photos
  • Completed form
  • Proof of payment

How to apply

The company for which you will work must apply by providing this information:

  • Name of applicant
  • Passport number
  • Nationality
  • Purpose and duration of visit
  • Acceptance of immigration responsibility

  • Company profile
  • Certificate of Incorporation
  • CAC 2&7
  • Copy of Data page of the Expatriate’s Passport
  • Proof of existing contract

Subject to Regulation (STR) Visa

To be eligible for an STR Visa, you must be one of these categories:

  • Expatriate employees and their dependents
  • Foreign students
  • Missionaries/Clerics and their dependents
  • Research Fellows
  • Expatriate staff on Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) and their dependents
  • Expatriate staff on International Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and their dependents
  • Government officials and their dependents

STR Visa Requirements

For applicant working:

  • Application for STR visa from the employer
  • Valid passport with at least six months validity and two blank pages
  • Two passport size photos
  • Expatriate Quota Approval
  • Proof of financial support
  • Letters of Offer Appointment and Acceptance
  • Educational qualifications and CV

For Dependents:

  • Marriage certificate of spouse
  • Birth certificate of children

To qualify for a Diplomatic Visa, you must be:

  • Heads of States and family visiting
  • Top officials of Government and family
  • Diplomats and family
  • Holder of a passport issued by the United Nations or International Agencies and Laisser Passez

Diplomatic Visa Requirements

  • Valid passport with at least six months validity and two blank pages
  • Two passport size photos
  • Note Verbale from Foreign Ministry of applicant’s home country or organization
