How to Expedite a Kenyan Visa

There are multiple visa types to get from Kenya. To get one, you must meet all the requirements. A visa will allow you to either enter once or multiple times. The cost of each will vary. Minors younger than 16 years accompanying their parents will not pay for a visa. So, if you are ready to go on an adventure in Kenya, here is the information you need to get a Kenyan Visa.

Kenya Visa Types

Kenya has four visa types. The visa types include:

  • Ordinary Visa
  • Transit Visa
  • Diplomatic Visa
  • Courtesy/Official Visa

Ordinary Visa

An Ordinary Visa is issued for a single entry or multiple entries. So, if you plan to enter Kenya and remain for up to 90 days, then you can get an Ordinary Single Journey Visa.

However, if you will enter Kenya more than once, you should apply for a Multiple Journey Visa. This visa type is valid for one year.

Transit Visa

If you are going to another country but has a layover in Kenya. You should get a Transit Visa. A Transit Visa is valid for three days. So, if your stay is within 36 hours and plans to visit a friend or family member, you should apply for this visa.

Diplomatic Visa

Persons who hold a Diplomatic passport will be issued a Diplomatic Visa. However, you must be visiting Kenya for official duty.

Courtesy/ Official Visa

If you have an Official or Service passport, you could apply for a Courtesy/ Official Visa. However, you must be visiting Kenya for official duty when you apply.

Kenya Visa Requirements

Before you apply, make sure you meet these requirements the Government of Kenya imposed on all visitors applying for a visa:

  • A valid passport with at least six months validity
  • Two blank pages in your passport
  • Two passport photos
  • Trip itinerary
  • One business letter
  • Completed application form

How to Apply

You can apply for a visa in person or by mail. You can also authorize a third party to apply for you. If you choose a third party, you must include an authorization letter. The letter must indicate you are granting permission for the third party to apply for you.
