How to Expedite an Indian Visa

To travel to India, you will need an Indian visa. There are different types of visas available to visitors. You must apply for the correct visa type to gain entry; otherwise, you will not be given admission.

Types of Indian Visas

India issues four types of visas. You will be admitted to the kind of visa you obtained. Each visa has a limit of how long you can stay in India. The types of visas available are:

Indian Tourist Visa

A tourist visa is a stamp placed in your passport book. It is given at a point of entry by immigration officials. When you apply for a tourist visa, you must:

  • Show proof of a ticket with the expected entry and departure dates
  • Provide employment status, birth nationality, current nationality, and visa type

A tourist visa is valid for six months but could be extended. The extension could be up to ten years. Overstaying may lead to an investigation before you can leave.

Indian Student or Work Visa

  • You must provide proof of acceptance from a school or university you will attend
  • You must provide proof of employment
  • You may obtain a provisional visa if your proof of documents from the university or employer is not ready

Indian Business Visa

  • If you are going to sell, buy products, establish a business, attend a trade fair or hire Indian workers
  • Business visas are valid for six months but could be extended
